This is only my second year attending “The 25” but it is quickly becoming one of my favorite weekends of the year. This is true endurance racing; nobody is willing to throw in the towel. I watched shock changes, axle swaps, full engine pulls, and the Ryno Racing crew putting an entire right rear corner back on the car to salvage a second place overall, and class winning, finish. Congrats to the Flying Lizard crew for their overall win.
With so many different cars, there were many different sounds to enjoy. The elevations changes really show up well on video. I imagine that this track drives like a rollercoaster.
My first trip to Thunderhill Raceway Park was wet, cold, and exciting. The large field, mix of pro and amateur drivers, and variety of cars (both fast and, relatively, slow) meant that traffic was difficult from the drop of the green flag. For the most part, everybody was very well behaved. The Ginetta dropped back at first while the Norma, Eagle, and Radical entries stormed to the front with the Flying Lizard Audi never far behind. The Flying Lizards’ reliability and experience was key as other teams succumbed to failure or penalty.
